The Aerospace Industry, like the automotive industry has not taken on a greater percentage of filament based 3D Printing due to the lack of a material that meets temperature and fire retardant requirements. The Aerospace Industry typically specifies a high strength and fire retardant material for several applications. To date, these specifications have pushed suppliers to use PEEK or Ultem type materials due to their inherently fire retardant features. However, not only are these materials expensive, there is a limited number of printers capable of printing at the required super high temperatures in their “stock” configurations. taulman3D PPEPS prints at 285C to 330C and while higher than most other materials printed by the majority of users, is still within the capability of Lulzbot, Prusa, BCN3D Sigma, Raise3D Pro2, Zortrax M300 and other similarly priced printers. In addition, due to taulman3D PPEPS excellent hydrolytic stability, it easily handles autoclave units and works extremely well in water and steam environments.
